Pokémon Legends: Arceus is an action RPG video game developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo and the Pokémon Company. It was released on January 28, 2022 and is somewhat of a prequel to Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, taking place in Sinnoh’s past in the land known as Hisui. The story takes place with the protagonist falling out of a space-time rift, entering Hisui for the first time before quickly join the Galaxy Team. Arceus itself seems to be guiding the protagonist as they try to complete the region’s first Pokédex, but other problems begin to form with Pokémon going out of control. The game is different from most other Pokémon titles, as Hisui is a vast land with many new Pokémon to catch in a style unlike other games. Battling to weaken Pokémon is back, but the option to stealthily throw Poké Balls from a safe distance is a new way to obtain them, along with items to attract or scare them away, since most Pokémon aren’t afraid to attack you. Rideable Pokémon also help explore the region more easily.
